Does it send the text by itself?
No. It opens the messages app with the number and body filled in, and the person presses send. That is a deliberate limit on every phone — a scan can never send a message on its own.
Is the message always carried over?
The number always is. The pre-filled body works on current iPhones and Android phones; a few older or unusual messaging apps drop it and open an empty message. Test on a real phone before a print run.
Does the recipient pay for the text?
The sender pays their normal SMS rate, exactly as if they had typed it. If your number is a premium or shortcode service, say so clearly next to the code.
Is it really free, and do the codes expire?
Free with no limits, no signup and no watermark. The code is a plain image once you download it — it is not a redirect through our servers, so it keeps working forever whether or not AroraLabs does.
